WHAT CAN INDIAN LOOK LIKE?

WRITTEN BY NATASHA ADVANI THANGKHIEW
FUNDED BY PAPRIKA THEATRE FESTIVAL
PREMIERED ED AT AKI STUDIO, NATIVE EARTH, PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A stage play about Natasha’s evolving relationship with her Khasi tribal identity, while exposing macrocosmic issues, such as colonialism and discrimination that are still woven in the fabric of progressive communities.
MAIN IDEAS
1. Exotifying people is a form of discrimination and can be oppressive.
2. Positioning ourselves in the broad spectrum of identity eradicates the notion of the other.
"Natasha created a space where it felt collaborative and respectful along with an understanding of everyones time. Natasha also showed professionalism and had a clear point of view which made it clear to me as a team member what I need to do to bring her vision to life."
